2. e Move the control lever downwards 3 Fig 8 press on the tyre with the bead pressure device 4 Fig 8 until the bead moves a few millimetres away from the rim then rotate the turntable clockwise The swivel arm 1 will turn with the tyre until it comes against the end travel stop 9 At this point the roller 4 will begin to break the top bead on the tyre NOTE When the top bead has been pushed into the drop centre the operator can lubricate the bead and the rim thoroughly to facilitate the subsequent demounting stages Fig 8a When the operation has been completed lift off the bead pressing device more the device away from the turntable and begin the demounting operations Demounting the outer bead Figures 9 9a 9b e Position the tool head Fig 9a AN WARNING The positioning and the removal of the operating arm of the tyre changer from the edge of the rim can be carried on only after having brought ALLY 70 outwards in non working position If the tyre has very stiff walls that prevent correct position of the mount demount tool on the rim edge follow these steps e Move the arm 1 or 10 Fig 9 to its working position e Move the bead pressing device 4 Fig 9 to the tyre and close to the mount demount tool Use the lever 3 Fig 4 to press down on the tyre to create enough space to position the mount demount tool correctly and to insert the bead lifter tool AN WARNING Bringing the

4. releases the swivel arm and to bring it to its non working position 6 Tyre lifting and bead loosening disk if the lower bead has re seated the disk will loosen the bead and will lift it to facilitate second bead demountung 7 Sliding locking lever 8 Rotating locking pin 9 Arm end of travel 10 Bead pressing arm BPA in its working position during mounting of the tyre pressing the bead prevents it from slipping onto the tools head NOTE The device is pneumatically supplied from the tyre changer to which it is connected Key to danger warning decals Hand crushing hazard Fig 4a AN WARNING Do not remove or deface the safety Danger Warning or Instruction decals Replace any missing or illegible Danger Warning or Instruction decals Missing or damaged decals can be obtained at your nearest SIMPESFAIP dealer CLAMPING THE WHEEL Break the beads of the tyre following the instructions and the warnings given in the tyre changer manual If you plan to clamp the wheel from the inside follow the normal procedure refer to the Operator Manual If you plan to clamp the wheel from the outside also using the plastic slide and grip covers supplied with the tyre changer see Fig 5 the ALLY 70 device can help with these operations Follow these steps e Release the turntable bringing the changer operating arm and the ALLY 70 device to non working position e Select the turntable opening so t
5. see Fig 22 e Turn the table top clockwise e Keep the tyre pressed against the rim so that the inner bead slips into the drop centre Mounting the outer bead e If the wheel has an internal sensor position it as shown in Fig 22 in relation to the tool head e lf the tyre has a coloured mark indicating the lighter position position this on a level with the sensor in order to achieve the best rim tyre match Note If the wheel is without the sensor position the coloured mark on a level with the valve e Mount bead pressing arm BPA on the arm of ALL Y 70 e Position the rollers of BPA and ALLY 70 as shown in Fig 22a then using the control 3 Fig 4 lower the arms until the outer bead is in the drop centre and under the hooked section of the toolhead see Fig 22a 12 AN WARNING When the bead pressing roller is pressed against the tyre the hands could be crushed between the actual device and the rim Work with the greatest care and keep your hands as far from the rim as possible e Turn the table top anti clockwise the ALLY 70 roller will turn along with the tyre allowing the outer bead to slip into the rim while the BPA roller will remain at a standstill in its position preventing the bead from slipping out again see Fig 23 Matching Once you have terminated the mounting operations make sure that the coloured mark on the tyre is on a level with the sensor If this is not the case see Fig 24 proceed in th
6. 0 outwards to its non working position e Position the bead pressing device 4 Fig 12 near the mount demount tool about 3 4 as shown in Fig 12 Lower it until the second bead is level with the centre well NOTE If the tyre bead fails to rise on the toolhead the operation can be facilitated by using the bead lifting lever see Fig 12a AN WARNING Bringing the bead pressing tool against the tyre is hazardous the operator s hands could be crushed between the tool and the rim Be careful and keep your hands away from the rim e As the turntable turns the bead pressing device will revolve with the tyre and keep the bead in the well The second bead will thus be mounted on the rim without any effort or danger to the operator and without damaging the tyre NOTE Bead pressing arm BPA 10 Fig 4 see RUN FLAT WHEELS section supplied with the device can be used for wheels particularly lowered ones those with very hard beads etc where the inner bead is very difficult to mount RUN FLAT WHEELS With the aid of bead pressing arm BPA the ALLY 70 device can correctly work on RUN FLAT wheels AN WARNING The majority of RUN FLAT wheels are equipped with an internal sensor so that the pressure can be measured Before proceeding with any operation on the wheel check the vehicle instruction manual for the type of sensor used and its position on the rim AN WARNING Before proceedi
7. 4 and lift the arm 1 Fig 15 then turn it and move the bead pressure unit 4 Fig 15 diametrically opposite the toolhead e Operate the lever 3 Fig 4 to lower the arm and exercise pressure on the tyre until the bead is on a level with the drop centre of the rim see Fig 15 This prevents the bead from being excessively taut and allows it to rise more easily on the toolhead see Fig 15a e Lift the arm of ALLY 70 and swing it outwards to free the work surface then turn the table top to allow the outer bead to slip out NOTE If the tyre flank is so rigid that the bead is unable to position in the drop centre this operation con be facilitated by using the BPA arm Mount BPA on the arm of ALLY 70 positioning it as shown in Fig 16 The pressure of both arms will allow the bead to set in the drop centre of the rim Inner side bead breaking If the inner flank bead has re seated proceed as described for BREAKING THE INNER BEAD in page 8 of this manual AN WARNING If the wheel has an internal sensor take the greatest care when working with the bead breaker disk or the sensor could be damaged Demounting the inner side e If the wheel has a sensor position it on a level with the toolhead see Fig 17 e Position the bead breaker disk under the inner bead then using the control 3 Fig 4 lift the bead until it is in the middle of the drop centre see Fig 18 11 AN WARNING If the wheel has an internal sensor take

10. and understand all the information in this manual eMake sure you have a thorough knowledge of the capabilities and characteristics of this machine e Keep unauthorised persons well clear of the area of operations e Read this manual carefully and learn how to use the machine correctly and safely e When using and carrying out maintenance on the machine observe the unified industrial accident prevention regulations for high voltage industrial equipment unauthorised alterations made to the machine automatically release the manufacturer from any liability in the case of damage or accidents attributable to such alterations Specifically tampering with or removing the machine s safety devices is a breach of the regulations for industrial accident prevention MAIN OPERATING PARTS OF THE MACHINE Fig 4 1 Swivel arm 2 Rim pressure cone when clamping the outside of the rim helps the insertion of grippers between the bead and the rim 5 3 Control lever used to lower and raise the swivel arm moving up the lever the swivel arm should raise moving down the lever the swivel arm should lower 4 Bead pressing device creates enough space to position the tool head correctly on the rim edge allows the bead to slip more easily onto the tool head and rotating integrally with the tyre press and maintain pressed the bead to facilitate its insertion in the drop centre during the demounting phase 5 Arm release lever
11. ansport Temperature range from 25 to 55 C WARNING Do not stock other goods on top of the packing or damage may result Handling To move the packed machine insert the forks of a pallet truck in the channels in the base of the pallet fig 1 AN CAUTION Keep the packing material intact for possible future transport of the machine UNPACKING ASSEMBLY WARNING Take the utmost care when unpacking assembling and setting up the machine as described in this heading Failure to observe these instructions can lead to damage to the machine and injury to the operator or other persons eRemove the upper part of the packing and make sure that the machine has not suffered damage in transit 3 Setting up the bead lifting pressing device Figures 2a 2b 2c 2d e Disconnect the electrical and the compressed air supply from the machine e Replace the 90 outlet union of the FRL unit with the T union A provided using hole D 8 for the tyre changer supply line and hole D 6 for the accessory supply line Fig 2a NOTE Before fitting the T union take care to remove all residues of adhesive to assure a perfect pneumatic seal on the union e Remove the tyre changer side case B Fig 2 e If the tyre changer has not the holes drill the holes on the left side according to the Fig 2b e Fix the accessory to the tyre changer using the screws supplied with it as shown in Fig 2c NOTE Keep the brac
12. bead pressing tool against the tyre creates a hazard the operator s hands could be crushed between the tool and the rim Be careful and keep your hands away from the rim e Clamp the mount demount tool insert the bead lifter tool and raise the ALLY 70 arm e Use lever 3 Fig 4 to raise the arm 1 Fig 9a and turn it to bring the bead pressing device 4 Fig 9a by the drop centre of the rim e Use the lever 3 Fig 4 to lower the arm and apply pressure against the tyre so that the bead is moved into the centre well of the rim see Fig 9a This will ensure that the bead is not excessively stretched and can easily move onto the mount demount tool e Use the lever L Fig 9b to move the bead over the lip of the mount demount tool Fig 9b e Raise the device arm and rotate it outwards to free the work top and then rotate the turntable to remove the first bead Breaking the inner bead Fig 10 10a 10b If the inner bead has re seated use the disk 6 Fig 4 to loosen the bead Follow these steps e Mount the disk 6 Fig 10 on to the lower arm holder Q Fig 10 and lock it in place with the relative pin P Fig 10 e Bring the arm 1 Fig 4 to non working position e Position the disk 6 Fig 10a under the tyre making sure that it is near the edge of the rim e Position the tyre lever L Fig 10a supplied with the tyre changer in the special hole on the disk arm and hold it to keep the disk pressed agains
13. e following way e Move the arm of ALLY 70 with BPA mounted to the work position e Move the bead pressure roller of of ALLY 70 to end of travel against its stop point 9 Fig 8 e Push the knob 8 Fig 4 inwards to stop the roller from turning e Position the BPA e Using the control lever 3 fig 4 lower the rollers until the bead has detached from the rim AN WARNING When the bead pressure roller is pressed against the tyre the hands could be crushed between the actual device and the rim Work with the greatest care and keep your hands as far from the rim as possible e Tum the table top until the sensor is on a level with the coloured mark see Fig 25 NOTE If necessary hold the tyre in position with the hands as the table top turns see Fig 25 Remember to thoroughly lubricate the beads to facilitate this operation NOTE If the table top must be turned in the anti clockwise direction move the bead pressure roller of ALLY 70 against the end of travel stop from the inner side Sensor inspection Replacement If the wheel has an internal sensor the ALLY 70 used with the BPA accessory will allow you to inspect and replace the actual sensor itself without having to remove the tyre from the rim AN WARNING Only work on the sensor after having consulted the operation and maintenance manuals of the vehicle and sensor itself Proceed in the following way Carry out the bead breaking operations using the bead l
14. es not work properly Call for technical assistance AN WARNING If the suggestions detailed above do not bring the device back to good functional performance or if the problem is other than those listed above DO NOT use the machine and contact your nearest SIMPESFAIP Technical Assistance Centre 14 MAINTENANCE AN WARNING SIMPESFAIP declines all liability for claims deriving from the use of non original spares or accessories S WARNING The maintenance operations must only be carried out by professionally qualified persons Before making any adjustments or carrying out maintenance disconnect the compressed air supply from the machine WARNING Do not remove or modify any parts of this machine except in the case of service interventions AN CAUTION Keep the work area clean Do not clean the machine with compressed air or jets of water When cleaning the area avoid raising dust as far as possible e Depending on the frequency with which the machine is used periodically check to make sure that the bead pressure arm works in the right position e Periodically clean and lubricate every 10 days the arm slideways eUse NLGI 2 strength grease for general applications e g ESSO GP GREASE GLOSSARY Bead seating This operation is performed during inflation Bead seating assures that the bead and the edge of the rim are perfectly positioned Bead breaking Operation that serves to detach the tyre
15. hat the jaws touch the tyre near the rim when putting the wheel on the turntable Fig 6 e nsert the rim pressure cone 2 Fig 6 on the swivel arm 1 Fig 6 and push it upwards making sure the bayonet lock slips into place e Set the swivel arm in work position it will automatically lock in line with the turntable Fig 7 6 e Lower lever 3 Fig 7 until the cone as it presses against the tyre forces it down a couple of centimeters Figures 6 7 NOTE During this stage the bead presser roller 4 Fig 4 must be positioned so as not to touch the tyre see Fig 7 e Close the grippers with the usual pedal and raise the arm 1 Fig 7 by moving the lever 3 Fig 7 up Remove the rim pressure cone and bring the arm back to its non working position DEMOUNTING Breaking the outer bead if necessary Fig 8 8a If the outer bead has re seated the bead breaking procedure can be repeated with the bead pressing device 4 Fig 8 rather than the normal blade Follow these steps e Pull knob 8 towards the outside so that the roller 4 is free to turn on its axis NOTE For all the other operations done with the ALLY 70 this knob must be inserted to prevent the roller from turning e Bring the arm 1 Fig 8 to its work position e Press the lever 7 Fig 8 so that the roller 4 Fig 8 can slide on the arm and position near the edge of the rim see Fig 8a e Release the lever 7 Fig 8
16. ket slots A Fig 2c more or less in the centre of the hole in the casing The fixing bolts must not be fully tightened e Check to make sure that ALLY 70 is vertical then fully tighten the seven screws Fig 2c AN WARNING The operation whereby ALLY 70 is positioned on the tyre changer con be dangerous Only carry out this operation after you have made sure that the device con be moved an held in position without risks of any kind e Connect the tube C Fig 2c that projects from the bottom part of ALLY 70 to the union A Fig 2a previously mounted on the filter lubricator unit e Reassemble the side case B Fig 2c e Re connect the tyre changer to the compressed air main e Make sure that the controls operate correctly Move the lever 3 Fig 2d up the arm must rise to end of travel Move the lever down the articulated arm must lower to end of travel Move the arm to the centre of the table top the arm must lock in the work position Press the release lever 5 Fig 2d The arm must release Fig 6 e Clamp a rim of medium width thickness with a central hole on the table top e Fit the rim pressure cone 2 on to the 1 and push it upwards to snap it into place e Move the arm of ALLY 70 to the work position e Using the relative control lower the arm in order to check that the cone is perfectly centred in relation to the rim hole e If this is not the case proceed in the foll
17. ng with any operation on the wheel make sure that all contact points between the tyre changer and rim mounting demounting toolhead bead lifting lever bead loosener shoe wheel clamps are equipped with their relative plastic guards Bead breaking If the wheel does not have an internal sensor the bead can be breaked in the conventional way as described in the tyre changer instruction manual If it does have an internal sensor the procedure will depend on the type and position of the actual sensor itself i e conventional bead breaking on both flanks or on the inner flank alone AN WARNING In all cases proceed with the utmost care Never ever press with the shoe near to the pressure sensor Clamping the wheel The wheel must be clamped on the table top from the outside only as indicated in page 6 of this manual AN WARNING Refer to the vehicle s instruction manual to find out whether there are any pressure sensors on the inside of the rim If this is the case proceed with the utmost care Outer side bead breaking If the bead on the outer side has not been removed with the bead breker shoe or has re seated proceed as indicated for BREAKING THE OUTER BEAD in page 7 of this manual BPA assembly AN WARNING The BPA bead pressure arm must only be mounted on ALLY 70 at the time it is actually used and demounted at the end of the operations This prevents it from hampering the other operating phases or from being a po
18. oosener shoe and or the roller of ALLY 70 whichever you consider the most suitable for the type of wheel and sensor in question 13 Clamp the rim on the table top and position the sensor at 6 00 hours see Fig 26 Move the arm of ALLY 70 to the work position with the bead pressure roller at 5 00 hours see Fig 26 Mount the BPA bead pressure arm on ALLY 70 and position the roller at 7 00 hours see Fig 26 Using the control lever 3 Fig 4 slowly lower the rollers until you have enough space to check or replace the sensor AN WARNING Take the utmost care to prevent the bead from touching the sensor during this operation After having terminated the operations slowly lift the rollers until the bead has passed over the sensor PAX SYSTEM WHEELS With the aid of the KP70 accessory the ALLY 70 device is able to correctly work on wheels of the PAX SYSTEM type Instructions on how to correctly install the KP70 accessory and use it on PAX SYSTEM wheels are given in the manual supplied with the accessory itself TROUBLE SHOOTING When the control lever 3 Fig 4 or the arm realease lever 5 Fig 4 is used the arm 1 Fig 4 does not move No compressed air supply to the system Check and correct the compressed air supply source Compressed air hose is crimped or crushed Check and correct any hose defects Replace hose if damaged The pneumatic valve which controls the air supply do
19. owing way Slightly raise the arm in order to keep the cone near to the rim Move the arm to the non working position using the release button Loosen the screws that fix the device to the casing Adjust the position of the device until it is as centred as possible Fully tighten the screws that fix the device to the casing 4 Check again to make sure that everything is perfectly centred and repeat the adjustments if this is not the case Remove the rim pressure cone from the arm and the rim from the table top INSTALLATION CLEARANCES Add the dimensions of the figure 3 to the overall dimensions of the tyre changer listed in its User s Manual and you will have the minimum footprint of combination machine TECHNICAL BRIEF e Operating pressure 8 10 Bar e Noise level when running lt 70 dB A e Weight 85 Kg OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES Please refer to relevant accessories catalogue SPECIFIED CONDITIONS OF USE SAFETY REGULATIONS The ALLY 70 bead lifting pressing device PATENTED has been designed as a SIMPESFAIP tyre changer accessory to help the operator to mount or demount the tyre using the tools with which the device is equipped and in accordance with the instructions in this manual AN WARNING Any other operations carried out on the machine are considered improper use and shall be construed as negligence The following conditions are essential e The operator must be able to read
20. t the tyre see Fig 10a e Rotate the turntable clockwise simultaneously raising the disk up with the control lever 3 Fig 4 until the bead breaking procedure is completed NOTE Thoroughly lubricate the inner bead see Fig 10b before removing it Demounting the inner bead Figures 11 11a 116 NOTE With some tyres the disk alone can be used to demount the tyre To do this continue the bead breaking procedure until the bead comes completely off the rim The disk 6 Fig 4 will always facilitate inner bead demounting especially with sports wheels with wide treads by lifting the second bead up and holding it in line with the drop centre e Position the disk as shown in Fig 11 and lift the second bead until it is in the drop centre 8 eUse the bead lifting lever to bring the second bead onto the hooked section of the tool head Fig 11a e Move the disk away from the work area and rotate the turntable until the second bead comes off the rim NOTE The bead breaker disk can be removed and placed in its storage position on the side of the device To do this pull it from its holding pin P Fig 11b and push it onto its mounting MOUNTING e Clamp the rim on the table and mount the first bead as described in the Instruction manual of he tyre changer AN WARNING The positioning and the removal of the operating arm of the tyre changer from the edge of the rim can be carried on only after having brought ALLY 7
21. tential source of danger through crushing e Insert BPA into its housing on the arm of ALLY 70 Fig 13 push it upwards and lock it in place with the relative pin A Fig 13 NOTE BPA can be mounted in two different positions depending on the operation required at 1 00 hours see Fig 13a at 7 00 hours see Fig 13b 10 Demounting the outer side e Move the toolhead H Fig 14 to the work position If the wheel has a sensor turn the table top until this sensor is on a level with the toolhead see the example in Fig 14 where the sensor is positioned under the valve AN WARNING The tyre changer s tool arm must only be positioned and moved away from the rim edge after the arms of ALLY 70 has been moved away in the non working position e Move the arm of ALLY 70 1 Fig 14 to the work position e Move the bead pressure units 4 Fig 14a on a level with the tyre and to the right of the toolhead see fig 14a e Operate the lever 3 Fig 4 in order to press on the tyre and create sufficient space to correctly position the toolhead and subsequently insert the bead lifting lever AN WARNING When the bead pressing roller is pressed against the tyre the hands could be crushed between the actual device and the rim Work with the greatest care and keep your hands as far from the rim as possible e Lock the toolhead in place and insert the bead lifting lever see fig 14a e Work the lever 3 Fig
22. the greatest care when working with the bead breaker disk or the sensor could be damaged e Insert the bead lifting lever on the toolhead until it has picked up the inner bead see Fig 19 e Raise the lever until the inner bead rises on to the toolhead AN WARNING If the wheel has an internal sensor take the greatest care when you insert the lever as the sensor could be damaged e Turn the table top clockwise until the tyre has been completely removed Operations and inspections prior to mounting e Check the tyre and rim as indicated in the tyre changer s instruction manual e If the wheel has an internal sensor make sure that it is not defective and or damaged If damage is discovered replace the sensor with a genuine spare refer to the vehicle s maintenance manual Mounting the inner bead e Clamp the rim on to the table top from the outside only e Move the tool arm to the work position and clamp the toolhead on to the rim AN WARNING The tyre changer s tool arm must only be positioned and moved away from the rim edge after the arms of ALLY 70 has been moved away to the non working position e Thoroughly lubricate the rim see Fig 20 e Thoroughly lubricate the tyre beads see Fig 21 elf the wheel has an internal sensor position it on the right hand side of the toolhead see example in Fig 22 where the sensor is under the valve e Position the tyre so that the inner bead lower one is under the toolhead
