Park House Healthcare PARK LITE 180 Electric Hoist User Manual CONTENTS 10 IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS INTRODUCTION PRODUCT DESCRIPTION INSTALLATION OPERATION CLEANING STORAGE MAINTENANCE TROUBLESHOOTING TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION GUARANTEES WARRANTY AND SERVICING IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING Please read and follow the safety precautions listed below Following these basic safety procedures will make lifting operations easy and trouble free WARNING RON gt OONOO 0 DANGER oa AUN NO 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 ALWAYS Carry out the daily check list before using the lift Plan your lifting operations before use Check the safe working load of the lift is suitable for the weight of the patient Familiarise yourself with the operating control and safety features before lifting a patient Check the sling is suitable for the patient and is of the correct size and capacity Fit the sling according to the instructions provided Carry out lifting operations according to the instructions in this user manual Maneuver the lift with handle provided Lift the patient to a suitable height to clear all transfer surfaces Chek the lift is disconnected from the mains before moving Do not attempt to lift a patient unless you are fully trained and competent to do so Do not use a sling that is not recommended for use
2. 1 The hoist will not function whilst charging is taking place Check the lift is not charging before moving as the electrical connection may be damaged 2 Be careful not to trip over the charge lead CAUTION 1 Keep the batteries fully charged Place the lift on the charge whenever it is not in use The charger will not allow the batteries to overcharge 2 Never run the batteries completely flat If the audible warning sounds complete the lifting operation in hand and place the lift on charge 3 Never store the lift for long periods without regular charging throughout the storage period 4 Always make sure the mains power to the charger is switched off before connecting or disconnecting the charger to or from the lift 5 Never leave the charger plugged into the lift with the mains power off 6 Never disconnect the charger plug by pulling on the cable 7 Do not charge an electric lift in a bathroom or shower room 5 CLEANING The following guidelines are suggested by Park House Healthcare as being suitable infection control procedures Further information is available upon request General cleaning may be affected by using a cloth dampened with a mild detergent and water solution This approach may be followed either by wiping with a sodium hypochlorite solution to a dilution of 1000 ppm or by using an alcoholic wipe CAUTION Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners or abrasives as these may damage the surface finish
3. 1 GENERAL INFORMATION Push Handle Spreader Bar Handset Battery control box and counter Actuator Protection Board Mast Knob Actuator Brake castor Front castor Figure 2 LIFT IN STORAGE POSITION Each lift is fully assembled load tested and certified before being packed shipped The following documents are supplied and packed with each lift and should be kept safe for future reference User Manual To properly maintain your lift please refer to the maintenance schedule included in this manual or contact Park House Healthcare for further information Place the carton in a clear working area and open carefully The carton should contain e Documents Package Handset Battery Battery Charger Handle Component with screws Sling bar component WARNING the lift is heavy and will need to be lifted with care You may need assistance to lift the lift from the carton 1 2 INTENDED USE The intended use of the lifting device is to transfer an individual from one resting surface to another such as a bed to a wheelchair Moving a person in a sling over ANY distance is not recommended This lift is suitable for lifting patients in the SITTING SITTING RECUMBENT and RECUMBENT positions The following slings are suitable for use with the Park Lite 180 Quick fit slings Full back slings Quick fit deluxe slings Long seat slings Access slings 2 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The Park
4. with this lift Never use a sling which is frayed or damaged Never disconnect or bypass a control or safety feature because it seems easier to operate the lift Do not lift a patient with the castor brakes on always let the lift find the correct centre of gravity Do not attempt to maneuver the lift by pushing on the mast boom or the patient Do not push a loaded lift at a speed which exceed slow walking pace 3km hour 0 8m second Do not push the lift over obstacles i e cables or uneven or rough ground particularly whilst loaded Never force an operation safety control all controls are easy to use and do not require excessive force Do not park a loaded lift on ANY sloping surface Do not use electric lifts in a shower Do not charge an electric lift in a bathroom or shower room This lift is intended for patient lifting DO NOT use it or allow it to be used for any other purpose Do not bump the lift down steps whether loaded or unloaded Do not attempt to a loaded lift on a slope which exceeds 1 12 approximately 5 degrees Do not attempt to maneiver a slope without a second helper being present NOTE CAUTION AND WARNING STATEMENTS NOTE CAUTION WARNING Information to which you should pay special attention Information for preventing damage to the product Important safety information for hazards that might cause serious injury SAVE THIS MANUAL FOR FUTURE REFERENCE 1 INTRODUCTION 1

G Extra care should be taken when folding unfolding the lift as there is a possible danger of trapping the fingers etc Please follow the instructions carefully 5 Open legs fully ENSURE leg locking knob inserts flush against the base casting and the legs will no longer moves freely The legs will then only operate by the use of foot actuator located at the rear of the base 6 Release spreader bar from retaining cradle and the lift is ready for operation ENSURE the cradle is securely locked step 5 3 1 ASSEMBLY OF THE SPREADER BAR 1 Take the spreader bar from the box and test if the clip at the bar ends function well 2 Install the spreader bar at end of the boom NOTE ENSURE the spreader bar is securely installed before usage 3 2 DISASSEMBLY 1 Lower the mast to the lowest possible position and then insert the spreader bar into retaining cradle Close legs tightly 2 Loosen the knob on the mast lift the mast and boom assembly and fold carefully toward the legs Use the push handle to assist this motion NOTE if you wish to separate the mast and boom completely from the base and legs undo the mast locking device fully and lift the mast and boom completely free from the base Be careful not to loosen the mast locking device knob and location spindle 3 Disassemble the actuator and place it securely Place all the components back in the box Pull the restraining strap sharply upwards and extend over the whee

Lite 180 is a lightweight weight aluminum hoist designed with optimum wheel placement to provide a stable lifting process for all moving and handling situations even when performing patient lifts from as low as the floor The low chassis design and compact size means it can be easily maneuvered even when space is limited The fully electrically operated user functions allows carers to perform safe and secure lifts for patients weighing up to 180 kgs 28 3 stones without the risk of injury to their neck or shoulders The innovative Soft start Soft stop function provides a smooth and efficient lifting process that is both safe and comfortable for the patient whilst the option of a four point spreader bar and extra link arm ensure they maintain a natural lifting position in the sling Enhanced Safety Features Fully equipped with enhanced safety features such as an anti entrapment device prevents the boom from lowering if it meets resistance and an emergency quick release system the Park Lite 180 is designed to ensure that patient safety is paramount at all times Service Diagnostic System A unique service diagnostic system with visual battery status and service indicators is built in to the control unit to enable the user to identify the condition of the actuator and assess if and when a service will be required Cycle Counter The intelligent cycle counter records every cycle the lift makes when it is loaded i e lifting a patient One cycle is
8. defined as the actuator driving up for a minimum of 6 seconds several activations allowed followed by driving down Work Counter The work counter records every movement the actuator makes regardless of whether the lift is loaded i e every second that the actuator drives up or down This is measured in A S Amps Seconds e Park Lite 180 actuator 10 000 cycles equates to 4 200 000 A S Overload Indicator This will alert the carer if the lift is overloaded Service Indicator The number of days until the next service is due is displayed visually on the power unit The service light on the handset will illuminate and alarm to alert the carer when a service is required Battery Status Indicator The battery status is displayed visually on the power unit and is also indicated on the handset If the battery is critically low the alarm will sound to alert the carer that it requires charging 3 INSTALLATION 1 Carefully remove all components from the carton and place on the floor take care not to damage the finish Place the base of the lift on the floor in an upright position 2 Assemble the mast and actuator Follow the above steps to open the lift before installing the actuator 3 Ensuring the rear castors are securely locked drop the mast assembly upright using the top of the push handle and drop the mast into the slot step 2 Tighten the mast locking device step 3 and release the braked castors at the rear WARNIN

10. gs etc are carried out on a regular basis It is recommended that the following maintenance is carried out on a monthly basis 7 2 MONTHLY MAINTENANCE 1 SPREADER BAR Check the spreader bar is free to rotate and swing Check for wear and tear on the central pivot Ensure it is firmly attached to the boom 2 BOOM e Check the boom is securely attached to the mast Make sure there is only minimal side movement of the boom and it is free to rotate on the boom mounting 3 MAST e Check that the mast locking device is operating correctly Make sure the mast is fully engaged into the socket Check the bottom actuator unit mounting is secure ACTUATOR Check all operations are working correctly Make sure there is no unusual noise coming from the actuator POWER PACK Test the Emergency Stop Button to ensure it is operating correctly BATTERIES Regular charging is advised as detailed in the charging instructions e Check that the connections remain clean LEG ADJUSTMENT e Check the legs operate in both full extensions inward outward CASTORS Check all castors are attached securely to the legs Make sure all castors wheels can rotate easily LOAD TEST The load test should be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer s test procedures 10 BASE AND WHEELS Ensure base is level all four wheels are on the floor 11 SLINGS Check for damage wear and tear and fraying 12 LUBRI

12. lied for parking When lifting make sure the brakes are released so that the lift can find the correct centre of gravity this will prevent the hoist from tipping 4 3 RAISING AND LOWERING THE BOOM The movement of the boom is electrically operated by a control handset The handset has two buttons with directional arrows indicating UP and DOWN The actuator will automatically stop once the boom has reached its maximum minimum position The handset plugs into a socket at the base of the control box there is a hook on the rear of the handset which allows it to be stored on the mast or boom when it is not in use 4 4 EMERGENCY STOP The Red Emergency Stop Button is located on the rear of the control box Pressing this will stop all power to the lift Power can be resumed by twisting the button counter clockwise and releasing 4 5 MECHANICAL EMERGENCY LOWERING In the case of a complete electrical failure the electric actuator is fitted with a mechanical lowering device This will only operate when the lift is under load To activate pull upwards and a slow decent will commence 4 6 BATTERIES The batteries are protected by a low voltage alarm The alarm will sound to indicate if the batteries need recharging the alarm will only sound when the handset is operated As per the Batteries and Accumulators Placing on the market Regulations Park House Healthcare Ltd will take back the battery from this equipment free of charge at the end of i

14. of the lift WARNING Avoid wetting any of the electric parts 6 TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE During transportation or if the lift is not in use for any period of time the emergency stop button should be pushed in Any environment where the lift will be transported in or stored should have a temperature between 10 C and 40 C and a humidity range between 30 and 75 7 MAINTENANCE The lift requires minimum maintenance however some safety checks and procedures are required A list of replacement parts is available upon request 7 1 DAILY MAINTENANCE It is recommended to following checks be carried out on a daily basis and before using lift 1 Make sure the lift moved freely on its castors 2 Check the spreader bar is firmly attached to the boom 3 Make sure the spreader bar is free to rotate and swing 4 Examine the sling hooks on the spreader bar and side suspenders for excessive wear If in doubt do not use 5 Examine slings for fraying or other damage DO NOT use any sling if any damaged is identified 6 Make sure the legs open and close correctly 7 Operate the handset to test the raising and lowering operation of the boom 8 Ensure the low battery alarm is not sounding when the handset is operated If the alarm sounds and place on charge immediately and DO NOT use 9 Test the Emergency Stop Button to ensure it is operating correctly It is recommended that a thorough test and inspection of the lift and its accessories slin

16. ts life Our battery producer registration number is BPRNO0892 4 7 SLINGS The selected sling should be attached to the spreader bar hooks Every sling is supplied with user instructions please study the user instructions for the lift and sling before use 4 8 CHARGING INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE LIFT The batteries are located in the power pack and are charged through a socket at the base of the control box 1 Insert the power supply plug into the charge point at the base of the control box with a straight push DO NOT twist the plug in the socket 2 Plug the charger mains lead into a suitable mains power outlet and switch the mains power supply on 3 Charging is fully automatic The LCD indicator indicates the status of the charging NOTE Even if the charger is left plugged in for extended periods it will not allow the batteries to overcharge 4 To commence use of the lift switch OFF the mains power supply and disconnect the charger mains lead from the mains 4 9 OFF BOARD CHARGING OPTION The lift features an off board charging option which can be activated by removing the battery and inserting it into the wall charger this can be supplied separately Charging is then automatic To commence use of the lift simply replace the fully charged battery The battery indicator will highlight the amount of charge that has been provided It is recommended that the battery is fully charged before returning the lift to service WARNING
