2. to BUZZER e Position TAPE forwake by cassette reproduction setmode selector Gto OFF inserta cassette press PLAY button and adjust the VOLUME control At the end of the cassette the buzzer automatically takes over the alarm function Switching off the alarm The alarm can be switched off in three ways 1 Temporarily switched off by pressing the ALARM REPEAT button 2 The alarm will be repeated every 9 minutes lt can be switched off again and again After one hour and 59 minutes it is switched off automat ically until next day when the alarm time is reached 2 For one day switched off by pressing the ALARM OFF button GO The alarm will sound again next day when the alarm time is reached 3 Completely switched off by setting ALARM Selector 8 to OFF The alarm on indicator on clock display goes out Note If the cassette recorder has been stopped in this way disengage the pressed buttons as soon as you are able to do so by pressing STOP m SLUMBER You can use the slumber function if you are going to sleep and you want to listen to the radio or the recorder for a while or continue a radio recording for a while The set will remain switched on during the pre set slumber time and when this time has expired the set will be switched off automatically e The mode selector Q must be in position OFF e Press SLUMBER ON button The slumber function and the set is now switched on e To set the desired slumber

SLUMBER level will be lower than the wake volume So see to it that the wake volume is adjusted sufficiently high using VOLUME contro 3 Note Choose position BUZZER for slumber with the radio and wake by radio buzzer e To switch off completely the ALARM function set ALARM selector to OFF The alarm on indicator on clock display 8 goes out MAINTENANCE e Clean the parts indicated in fig 5 after every 50 hours of operation or on average once a month Open the cassette holder by pressing EJECT m Use a cotton bud slightly moistened with alcohol ora special head cleaning fluid Press PLAY and clean the rubber pressure roller fig 5 Then press PAUSE II and clean the capstan recording playback head and erase head After cleaning press STOP g Cleaning of the heads and can also be done by playing the cleaning cassette SBC 114 through once as an ordinary cassette e The recorder mechanism is fitted with self lubricating bearings and therefore must not be oiled or greased e Fingerprints dust and dirt on the apparatus can be removed using a soft clean and slightly damp leather cloth Do not use any cleaning agents which contain abrasives or solvents such as benzine thinner alcohol refined petrol or ammonia since they may affect and harm the cabinet e Do not expose the set battery or cassettes to rain or moisture or for any great length of time to excessive heat from heating equipm
4. time keep the buttons SLUMBER ON y and MINUTES pressed the display 8 will only show minutes counting down from 59 to 00 minutes Release the buttons as soon as the desired digits are reached e g 30 for 30 minutes slumber time If the HOURS button is pressed instead of the MINUTES button the slumber time will be 159 one hour and 59 minutes To return to 59 in this case press SLUMBER ON button again e Select the desired SLUMBER mode 1 Slumber by the radio Set ALARM selector 3 to RADIO or BUZZER 2 Slumber by cassette playback Set ALARM selector to TAPE insert a cassette and press PLAY p 3 Continuing a radio recording during absence Set ALARM selector to RADIO or BUZZER insert a cassette and press RECORD e e When the pre set slumber time has expired the setis automatically switched off e Ifyou want to switch off the set before the slumber time has elapsed press SLUMBER OFF button 42 e When the SLUMBER function has been switched off automatically or by pressing SLUMBER OFF 2 the ALARM function RADIO BUZZER or TAPE remains activated and the alarm will go off next morning as soon as the pre set alarm time is reached If the cassette has reached its end position TAPE the BUZZER will automatically take over the alarm function Note lf the cassette recorder has been stopped with the SLUMBER function disengage the pressed buttons as soon as you are able to do so by pressing STOP E e in most cases the

7. le You can render this safeguard ineffective by covering the aperture now existing with a piece of adhesive tape Fast forward winding and rewinding Press the fast forward F FWD p gt or REWIND 44 button Press STOP m to stop fast winding and also when the tape in the cassette has reached its end RECORDING e Set mode selector to position RADIO for a radio recording TAPE for recording from the built in microphone set the VOLUME control to zero e Press EJECT m to open the cassette holder e Insert the cassette fig 3 Note that for recording you must use a cassette on which the tabs on the back fig 4 are not broken out e Start recording by pressing the buttons RECORD and PLAY P at the same time e When monitoring during recording adjust the volume with VOLUME contro 43 Monitoring during microphone recordings is not possible set VOLUME control to zero e For brief interruptions press PAUSE button 11 To restart recording press this button once more e To stop recording press STOP button m e When reaching the end of the tape during recording the buttons RECORD and PLAY will automatically be disengaged CASSETTE PLAYBACK e Set mode selector to TAPE e Press EJECT m and insert a recorded cassette fig 3 e Press PLAY p and playback will start e Adjust the volume using VOLUME control 43 You may connecta headphone with 23 5 mm plug to socket Q The loudspeaker is then switched

9. se of the set corresponds to your local mains supply If it does not consult your dealer After that insert the mains plug into the wall socket The set is now energised and the display digits light up On the first connection of the set to the mains and also whenever the mains supply is interrupted but only if the 9V MB buffer battery is absent or empty the display digits will blink showing that the time setting has to be re adjusted As soon as the time setting has been adjusted all digits will light up continuously To disconnect tie set from the mains completely pull the mains plug out of the wall socket OO 000009 O000OOC09 Important note for users in U K When fitting a mains plug to the mains lead proceed as follows The wires in the mans lead are coloured in accordance with the following code Blue Neutral Brown Live These colours may not correspond with the colour markings identifying the terminals in your plug so proceed as follows Connect the Brown wire to the terminal marked Lorcoloured Red Connect the Blue wire to the terminal marked Nor coloured Black No connection is necessary to the earth terminal Note This apparatus must be protected by a 3 Amp Fuse if a 13 Amp plugis usedor fany other type of plugis used bya5 Amp Fuse either in the plug or adapter or at the distribution board If in doubt consult a qualified electrician MB buffer Mains Breakdown buffer Insert a 9 V battery into ba
10. tes by pressing the MINUTES button e You can check the pre set alarm time by Keeping pressed the ALARM SET button for a moment Switching on the alarm mode Select the desired alarm mode by using ALARM selector The alarm mode is now switched on and the alarmon indicator on clock display will light up Important 1 The mode selector must be in position OFF 2 Ensure that the headphone socket is free otherwise the loudspeaker is switched off ALARM selector 3 e Position OFF for switching completely off the ALARM function The alarm on indicator on clock display will then go out e Position RADIO for 1 Wake by the radio set mode selector to RADIO tune to the desired radio station adjust the VOLUME control and set mode selector to OFF 2 Starting a radio recording during absence set mode selector 1 to OFF set the alarm time to the time at which the radio programme starts insert a cassette press RECORD button and if nobody needs to hear the programme during recording set VOLUME control to zero e Position BUZZER for wake by the buzzer and the radio the buzzer sounds like a beep If VOLUME control 43 has been set to zero only the buzzer will be heard Set mode selector to OFF Note if the BUZZER alarm is needed during normal use i e when mode selector is in position RADIO or TAPE set the alarm time to the desired point of time and set ALARM selector
11. ttery compartment fig 2 Inserting the battery mustbe done afterthe set has been connected to the mains in order to prevent the battery from being under load Now in case of mains breakdown the clock will run on dl se Ue n AAA Po ne R Be this battery However the radio the recorder and the clock display will not operate When the mains break down is over the display will show the correct time again and there is no need to re adjust the clock settings if the set is not to be used for an extended period it is recommended to take out the battery This avoids damage due to battery leakage if the set is always connected to the mains replace the 9 V battery after about 1 year Battery replacement is also recommended if significant power interruption has occurred at any time More detailed information cannot be given since the probability of mains supply interrup tion differs from one country to another MODE SELECTOR e Position RADIO for radio reception recording from the radio Position TAPE cassette for cassette playback recording from the built in microphone set the VOLUME contro to zero e Position OFF using the ALARM selector 3 the ALARM and SLUMBER functions may now be chosen see ALARM selector if the ALARM selector also is in position OFF the set is completely switched off
